We Choose Toyota HiAce

sparesThe largest taxi company in the Southern Hemisphere, Taxi Combined Services of Sydney, chose Toyota HiAce maxi taxis to help cope with passenger numbers during the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000.

Brisbane-based Yellow Cabs developed the Maxi Taxi concept using Toyota’s HiAce Commuter Bus as the basic platform.

Toyota Maxi Taxi cabs can carry either 10 passengers; 8 passengers and one wheelchair; or two wheelchairs and 6 passengers.

Brisbane Maxi Taxis Toyota HiAce are equipped with computer communications systems, air conditioning and one of three types of rear hydraulic lift with a 385kg capacity.

The lifts have been designed for moving wheelchairs but are also suitable for lifting luggage.

Maxi Taxis are so versatile they are often hired to collect bulky items such as LCD TVs, washing machine from the repair shop etc.

The Maxi Taxi concept was devised by Yellow Cabs’ general manager Neill Ford and introduced in Brisbane 1992-93, becoming a hugely popular means of transporting groups of people around that city.
